This was a very neat museum. Lots of fun to walk around in, and the staff we encountered were very knowledgeable. The only disappointment was that quite a few of the building were locked, but no one informed us when we arrived which ones were open or closed. There also was an opportunity to have plaques with information, but there were none.

Just amazing. No need to pay for a guided tour. In each building, there's a person who explains and describes every single detail thereof. They are mostly elderly women, but they speak both Russian and English very good. If you wanna get to know Georgian cultural history in its pure form, this is the place to go.
(The only disadvantage was the cable car from Vake park, which was out of order.)

This is the best place I've been in Tbilisi. The above 30 authentic houses from around Georgia, filled with meticulously collected inventory and surrounded by carefully set up yards, immerse you into the mood of the time and area of each scene. Helpful staff readily helps understand all the details. Many thanks to them!
A must visit destination in Tbilisi!

The museum exhibits houses typical to different regions of Georgia. You may visit the museum until 6pm. There are some days, when they have additional, special activities. It's a nice place to hang out in the open air, it's always 2-3 degrees less than in central parts of Tbilisi, therefore in summer you could kind of escape the heat. The museum hosts the Art Gene Festival every July since 2004.
